A cat moment

I remember going through it time and again when growing up.
As you have probably guessed by now - I do have a soft spot for cats.

Old acquaintance Pittas

Pittas Halloumi is an old acquaintance from the time we lived in Cyprus.
So, the watermelon and halloumi salad is a bit of a nostalgic thing for me. A very tasty one at that.



There are two books where Cyprus features that I like very much.

Journeying:Travels in Italy, Egypt, Sinai and Cyprus by Nikos Kazantzakis is the first one.

Bitter Lemons by Lawrence Durrell is the second.

Summer is nearing

Weather here is teetering towards summer. Thus there was an other salad for lunch on todays menu. This time it was of a melon and shrimp variety.


This stunning cupola was in Samarkand, Uzbekistan - a country were salad was served with every meal at every place.

First time I ate this very simple salad in one lovely restaurant in Marzamemi, Sicilia.
It has become one of my firm favourites.

Asparagus and strawberries

As asparagus season is about to end here I took my (probably) last chance at making asparagus and garlic pasta.



To everyone's delight strawberry season is in full swing.
So I had strawberries with yoghurt and biscotti for a desert.
